SUCCESSFUL UNIVERSITY SPINOUT
Dr Westlake was asked to be a founding non-executive director of a high technology
university spinout in the resources industry.
A key component of this role was to move the ethos of the company from that of a
new business unit within a large corporation to that of a true start-up with limited
resources and a rapid growth trajectory. (some issues explained)
This company was sold to a large NASDAQ-listed corporation after just over 4 years
of intensive growth. The return to the university from the sale was substantial.
